Default Custom interior trim ideas

I'm looking to change the interior aesthetics of my car but I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking of replacing all the hard plastic with some kind of brushed gold/yellow metal (aluminium?) but I'm not sure how it would look. I'm hoping to make my car have a German flag theme to it (gold black and red throughout) for an end result. I'm still a long way away from having a finished product but I want to start planning how I'm going to get to the final product. My mechanicals are in good order now so I'm onto looks.

To sum up, has anyone done a "trim conversion" in a 924/early 44? More specifically to metal of some kind? Looking for any ideas, pictures would be great.

Saw a custom dash treatment on a local car at Walmart a while back could put a little German flag in the dash scene and use yellow foil bags vs the plain white ones

And one other thing, I had looked through an old thread on rennlist about fabricating, and installing a gated shifter potentially. Just curious if anyone has actually done it? I love the look and clicking sound from them. Hoping to find a way to put one in my car as well.

There are all kinda of metal and brushed finish vinyl you could apply. I got some brushed gunmetal vinyl it works well.

The 3M brush aluminum stuff doesn't look good at all. In fact, it doesn't look like brushed aluminum either!

Check your area for a "hydro dipping" shop. A member of another board had his trim dipped to match his wood steering wheel and it looks great.

My dad told me one of his good friends owns a metal shop and if I give him a cad file, or at least the measurements, he might make me the pieces out of aluminium for relatively cheap. It will still be a few hundred $ for all the pieces I'm thinking of getting so I'm just hoping to see how it would look before spending the money. The main reason I want to change it is because I don't like the plastic (look/feel/sound).

I'd be all over custom aluminum if I had the means. Please post pictures if you do it.

I've got a few things still to fix mechanically before I'll get to my aesthetics but if/when I do it I'll for sure put up pics. Might be a winter project if all goes well.
