Default Intro; as I've moved over here from 964:

G'day all. After a 4 year 964 ~ RS project based on a pristine '90 C2, I've sold that and jumped into a beautiful '87 924S with the full '79/'80 D Production body pieces that have been perfectly integrated on a gutted (int.), de-sunroofed car. A/C long gone. Manual steering rack and conversion.

964 sale proceeds went into the new track sled and a lovely cash infusion for the wife. Spousal win/win based on a car transaction, who'da thunk ?

The new car runs, drives, operates (on track) beautifully. I used it all day back in Oct on track @ Grattan (MI) and really started to question wether I wanted to continue to use the 964 as a track tool long term.

I can say, I think conclusively, that this 924 can be driven on the power way further into a braking zone than a 911 as long as your on your game as far as line and momentum. I had a fabulous fur-ball with a well driven M coupe that eventuated in that driver being shown the 924 tail. The car is/was an absolute cracker to drive and performs flawlessly. The maintenance history has been far beyond extreme by the shop who'd infrequently used it as a track "demonstrator" and PR car for their Lotus/Porsche/Morgan/etc. business.

Anyway, 924S goes under the knife next week for:

Suspension: 400 # Hyper's over existing Koni yellow's. 30mm rear bars. Sway bars are already in, suitable size, and will work well with the new damping rates. Control arms, bushings, ancillaries will get freshened/replaced as needed.

Exhaust: MSDS > Magnaflow > Tip

Brakes: Wilwood fronts and rears in question.

Full welded in cage already done. Interior stripped and very clean. Trans re-built and new OE clutch kit within 2k mikes ago, so driveline is basically set pending inspection of rod bearing results and potential baffling. Sparco Evo 2's and 6 points done.

Now if I could just get BBS USA to build the appropriate, aesthetically correct (to the D Prod. cars) E75 centered, 15" wheels I might get happy.

Existing pic admittedly not so good; will post up as the car is fully set up, detailed and down from hoist within a couple weeks and trucked out/tucked up in my garage.

Anyone here know a source for the dashboard on the white car pictured? Known suspects (AIR, GTR, etc) don't list or picture such a piece. It may be that Porsche fab'd that from the OE piece; noting the binnacle style.

Anyway, very glad to be back to the 944 platform. Have owned a bunch of those; 944's, 951's, now a bloody 924S !

Cheers !

The center gauge pod and vents look stock but the dash it self is not, I would guess AIR but could be wrong. Hop over to http://www.924board.org/, they might know who made it.
