Default 924S 16" tire options?

I've got a set of 16" phone dial wheels off my 944S that I'm thinking about putting on my 924S. Those wheels are 7" wide front and 8" wide rear. I believe that was a factory option for the 924S but if I follow the recommended tire size (205x55 front, 225x50 rear) it could get really close in the rear fender wells. There's no issues with off-set because both cars have the same. I should also mention that the 924S has been lowered in the rear using the eccentric bolts and 1 1/2" lowering springs in the front. It also has an autocross alinement with 1 degree negative camber rear and 3.5 front. I put the 16" wheels on the car to have a look but there were 205x55's on all 4 wheels so although the rear looked really close, I don't think that was exactly the fitment I'll see with the 225x50's. The tires on them were also street tires and I'm probably going to purchase Dunlap Direzza Sport Z1's so tire profile will be different. Does anybody have this type set-up with tires and suspension? I sure would like to confirm the rear tires are going to clear the fender wheels before I mount these tires. Thanks.

I have 205/55r16's on the front of my 924S and have had no rubbing issues (mounted to phone dials). Ditto for the 225/50r16's in the rear

I have Continental Contisport tires, but haven't lowered my car, so I don't know if that would affect anything.

Thanks for the reply. I think the lowered rear is going to be problematic on my car. I posted the same question on another site and had a response from a guy with exactly the same suspension and alinement. He did write of rubbing from the rear 225x50x16 tires. We also discussed how the car handles differently with the 16" wheels. I've agreed with him that the steering feels heavier and less responsive. I think for autocross the 15" wheel is the best choice. They keep the car lower, it feels lighter and has more torque. The only improvement I can see with a 15x7 wheel would be to go to 225x50x15 for a larger contact patch.

I have heard of guys doing 16x7's with 924s on all four corners. Max Stock 924 tire was 205/60x15 keeping a similar diameter that would be a 204/50 or 205/55x16.

If you are running lowered car then you might to have to run a more aggressive negative camber on the rear if you run 8's.

If you can get a pair of 15" Phone Dial from later 944's (I got mine from '89).They are 8" wide and that is perfect for 225/50/15 for the rear. Use your original 15" on the front with 205/55/15. 225's on your
924S will fit but but will not look wide as from the 944's. 16's will rub on your fender for some reasons
regardless of similar offset. It might not when you're running but you will when you hit a bump.
