I contact the guy, he said the absolute lowest he'll go is $6.5K ... looks good, but is it worth it?

For an early NA? Well, I suppose it is if you're willing to pay that much... Personally, I'd be looking at "What else would that 6.5k get me, and would I appreciate those more?" - like a 951?

Who puts a clear coat over original paint for protection? I don't trust the add, and I would never pay 6.5 for that car. I just don't see these cars appreciating that much, even if you put them in a bubble. 24/44's are great drivers, not collector pieces. Vaughan is right, 6.5 will buy you a lot more.

Tough crowd... I think $6500 for what appears to be a truly mint 924 is an appropriate price. Granted you have to want a n/a 924 to begin with but hell if that isn't the nicest n/a I've ever seen for sale. And whose to say these won't be sought after in another 10 years. It wasn't so long ago that 914s were hated and maligned by those who didn't understand them... 924s will have their day.

Why spend 6.5k on an NA 924 when it's an early one? Not exactly the best of the breed, and I should know, I've had plenty, including a few early ones...

As a 914 and 944 owner I have to chime in here. I have to admit the prices on the 914's have surprised me a little the last few years. I believe the reason is that few cars can touch a 914 around a tight track. As far as the 944 I really believe the 944 will increase in value a lot the next 5 years. As with any car the better examples will always bring good money, but everyone knows the 944 as the perfect 80's car and some even know it as the car that saved the Porsche company. Those two factors alone will make the 944 a very desirable car for years to come.

okay, i'll go along with the gag like the thread didn't actually die out years ago... (making believe he just posted):
sure, if you enjoy pissing your $$$ away, GO FOR IT. you can almost get a 928 for that much, and really have yourself over a barrel... considering what a 944 costs to bring up to date, and on maintenance. get ready to say goodbye to a lot more than that. btw, you never became a member - ***.
