Hey, Jim!
Vaughan,
Talk to me about your GTR body work laying around. Wanna sell it? I've been racing in the NASA 944 spec/ PCA SP-1 class for several years now and it's the best 944 class EVER. But, I'd like to build up a bigger 944 project just for fun. I have an 88 924S that I'd like to turn into a 924 GTR look alike. It has all the modern 944 gear, but has the narrow rear end for the correct GTR look.

LOL... no, actually I was hoping to get started on that project this spring. It is the GT-Racing LeMans bodywork - pics used to be on my website, actually, shows how much wider the car gets with the flares... seem to have misplaced them. It would look really dumb with only the front flares.
BTW - "correct GTR look" is a bit of a misnomer. The cars were raced in many different configurations; IIRC the factory offered about 5 different bodywork configurations, and then customers typically created further variations on these. So if anything, you'd be looking to emulate one of the configurations that was raced.
For example, this was one of the original, basic setups:
However, no-one that I know of sells that bodywork. You would probably have to pop molds off an original. This is the bodywork I have:
I am still missing a few detail items, like the spoiler, rear Euro bumper, and mirrors... actually need to find a set of those mirrors for my racecar too, that's actually a higher priority. Of course, EVERYTHING on the racecar is a higher priority - that's why I haven't started building my turbo up yet! LOL Also have to work in an EFI conversion, probably Megasquirt, but haven't decided when that gets scheduled in, so don't exactly have a plan yet. Want to pull the motor and refresh it at the same time I put the body on; hope I can swing it sometime in spring '08.

Ok, here is a before image.
Flare pop riveted on, primered.
Tire clearance. Tight
My method, was to disturb as little as possible of the original setup. Just change enough to get the wider wheels that I wanted. The entire conversion, flares, 944 fenders, valance, lights, 16" deep dish wheels, paint and materials I think was around 1200. Not bad
