Audi 4.2 In an 82 924
Hi All.
been working on this swap for near 3 years now. Stuffing an AUX code 40V A8L 4.2 into my 924. So far, i have modified tge strut towers, fire wall and crossmember. Engine is 100% moubted in place. Hdyrualic filled Mounts are from a Ford. Using stock manual rack. A 931 bell housing, Audi V6 Spacer, 2.7 S4 Flywheel and pressure plate, with a Mazda RX8 240mm stage 3 disc. Please enjoy, this has been a bonkers project! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...8b0f21c36e.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...54ac558edf.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...085d5f1c37.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...beaf9db3ff.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...d35847d604.jpg |
Great job so far! That is a **** load of work. I appreciate the keeping it in the "family". I hit the easy button and dropped an LS in my 968. No chassis mods required as an LS is so compact.

Thank you.

Clutch Set up
Here is My clutch set up for my Audi 4.2L 924. got a hold of a lite aluminum flywheel Looks just like the 034Motorsports series, LuK pressure plate and Disc scored for $160 lol. **Disc is near perfect and will be spared for our 2.7T Passat. The disc pictured is a Mazda Rx8 stage 4 series good for 450ftlbs, which is plenty. it is a 240mm disc, with a 25mm/23t, also for you 951 guys, this disc is a perfect replacement for a worn out disc in your car. average cost is $70 for the Mazda Discs.

I am breaking away from all stock gauges for my Audi 4.2L Swap in my 924. Main reason is I would like to try and make this car Legal in CA to actually drive around. So I am going to use an A8 cluster and, match everything up with the harness. also will have the OBD2 port set up, so I can read any codes and trouble shoot as much as possible. At first I wanted to stay stock gauges, but in the end, this will be very accurate.

Cool swap. Wide engine though! |

Looks like a very early cluster so you won't have to worry about an immobilizer. Later clusters (not all have immobilizers) have oil temp and volt gauges.
Cool swap. Wide engine though! Thanks man, been a long process of crazy haah! It is pretty wide 27inches from cam gear to gear. |
Should be interesting to integrate that gauge cluster into the dash.
What is an AUX from? A8? Cable throttle or electronic? Have you chosen a transmission yet? |

What is an AUX from? A8? Cable throttle or electronic? Have you chosen a transmission yet? 2001 A8L D2, one of the last before the A8 Facelift. E throttle, no cable. I was fortunate enough to get the WHOLE interior harness from an A8L and my engine came with everything too. going to use a 944 Turbo gearbox. later adapt a Audi 6 speed. |
Modification of Harness from the 2001 A8 donor car underway, trimming it down to what is needed for my 924 Audi 4.2 Swap. leaves me with a lot of extra wiring for splicing if needed. Also the fuse block will be a nice update from the old ceramic fuses not to mention the wiring from the early 80s. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...56f466fa07.jpg
