Headlights Turn on when going down
 

New to posting so here it goes. My son and I are rebuilding his first car. We got a 87 924S. We have started to put everything back together and when tried the headlights we get some very odd results.
First they would go up and no low beams pull high beams back and one side would light up. Switch off they would not go down. Pull back on high beam and the lights would go down. I have them going up and down with the switch now but the do not light up in the up position. When you turn the switch off they lower and turn on.
We have cleaned all grounds, checked wires at plugs to check for cracked or broken wires, cleaned contacts in switch, tried replacement switch, and checked all fuse's. At a stand still. Not sure what else to do.

I guess sometimes just posting you figure it out. It looks like we put the linkage 180 out. all good.

If they start to "stick" -turn on and not go up sometimes, I've taken the motor apart and cleaned up the rust with success on several differant cars.

And the cable connector for the head light bulbs can be flaky, usually just unplug and plug fixes them.
