1979 924T that was.

Hi guys.
After many years of reading Rennlist posts and just as many tinkering in my garage on my 924 Turbo, I finally have it on the road.
I rebuilt it using the 924 Carrera GT as inspiration but it is not a direct copy and as you will see from the photo's I have deviated from keeping it 100% pure.
Engine is stock however it is now EFI using MSII which does both fuel and ignition.
The distributor has been changed over to coil pack, the cooling is via an Aluminium 944 radiator setup and there is an intercooler and oil cooler located in front of the radiator.
I am just in the process of organising a dyno tune as my tuning skills are not great and I only have it setup to a base tune which is quite drive-able but lacks boost and power.
As with all project cars they are never finished. The suspension (shocks and bushes) still need to be replaced, new sports seats to be installed and a brake upgrade with slotted disks.
Never ending but lots of fun.

Original Engine Bay. The turbo was disconnected when I got it but was complete and in a box. It was a Turbo motor setup as NA.

Awesome car! One question: Where did you end up purchasing the Carrera GT kit from?

fozzwell62 02-20-2018 06:56 AM

I'm located in Australia and I purchased the rear guards from a Porsche car dismantler who had taken them off a wreck. One was actually broken in half and the other was full of holes; they both had to mended before proceeding with the build. I actually made the front fender extensions myself along with the front clip using foam and fibreglass. Trying to locate a CGT kit in Australian is near impossible so I decided that I was up to the challenge of making them and decided to deviate from the standard look and go for a custom look.

Neat, very good craftsmanship. Those fender flares look like they came straight from the factory.
