Can a 6'3" 200 pound man fit in a 914 ???
Hey all !
I just retired and own a 2006 911 ( love her ! ) but wanted to add a 4 cylinder 914 to the stable as a fun car . I sat in one recently and was cramped in the drivers seat
Does anyone know if the seat can be replaced or behind the seat can be pushed back by a body shop 2-3 inches to allow more room ??
Thank you !!

Surprised with the seat way back you don't fit. My older son is 6"3" and fits in either of ours (and our previous real 6) with no problem. Must be your particular body habitus.
The firewall is a "hard" part and really realistically can't be altered, but maybe some aftermarket seats may allow a little more room, but 914 seats aren't exactly "thick" to begin with!

6'3" 180 here and I fit fine. I tilt the seat base back a notch and it's perfect. But I've only got a 34" inseam. A guy with long legs might nail the steering wheel a bit.

I'm 6'1" 210 lbs and have owned a 914 for 30 years. My hair brushes the roof when it's installed and I don't put my butt all the way back into the L of the seat which lowers me a little bit. I could tilt the seat back to the last notch, but then feel like I'm in the space shuttle instead of a car. I think 2 more inches for me would be a deal-breaker. That said, the bottom seat cushion is pretty thick. If your hips aren't too wide where you could drop down inside the side rails of the seat, you could probably have an upholstery shop make you a thinner bottom cushion to puck up some extra headroom - in fact, maybe I'll look into this myself.
914s are a lot of fun though, and more spacious inside than other similar cars of the same era like the MGs, Fiats, Triumphs, etc.

I have a friend I worked with who had a '70 914-6 when I had my first Six. He was 6'5" and fit no problem. Make sure your seat adjustment is working correctly and allowing full range of motion.

I'm 6'1", 320lbs and I fit well with a 350mm wheel. Stock steering wheel made it a bit cramped around the shifter. I actually even click the seat forward one notch. With it all the way back in the back pad, it's almost too far, lol. I'd say if you have a 34" inseam or more it will be tight, especially with a stock steering wheel. My 350mm wheel is dished quite a bit so it puts the wheel closer to me but this gives up the cramped area where the right leg, shifter and stock steering wheel get too tight.

Haven't had my 1974 914 for years (sold it in 1989), but have hugely fond memories (and a lot of pictures) of it. I had a friend who was around 6'3" and there was no way he would fit in the driver's seat - we tried multiple times. Probably depends a lot on the dimensions of your particular body.

As I remember in my '73 2.0, I could just fit (6'2"). To get helmet room for auto-X and DE, I removed the bottom seat cushion and sat on the fiberglas shell (maybe with a folded towel). For my 914 race car, I bought a stock-car style aluminum shell seat, and mounted that directly to a floor-plate.
