Default 914-6 value

Hello, I am considering selling a 914-6, good driver, has flaws in the paint, and interior, no rust. 914-6 engine in it but numbers matching engine is out of it, I am including it in the sale.

I don't have photos yet as I am planning on have a professional do them.

Can anyone shed light on real world values.

You'll get a million opinions over at 914 world... a decent "rust free" real 6 is worth some good money. History of car would help- is original engine rebuildable?

Certain colors and options enter into the higher values as well.

What does this car carry for color ? Interior is ? And does it have some of the more desirable options ?

To answer your question more fully, please enter a few high quality photos of the common problem areas these cars have.... such as up on a lift with good photos of the right side longitudinal, battery box area, front and rear floor areas of trunks. A few closeups of around the taillight points, under the bottom edge of the sail panel areas, of door jambs and seam areas on the front cowl.
If ALL of these are truly free of any rust and the car still shows it's original paint, comes complete with the tool bag and any books and receipts, I am confident the 50 mark is merely a bottom end of the scale.
I saw one not long ago in Tangerine with less than 25,000 original miles appraised at over 110. And the guy was NOT selling it..... merely appraising for insurance purposes.

These are getting good money because really great 914 - 2 litre fours are reaching the 40 mark and not looking back. A rust free 914 has become a fairly rare commodity. An original in all respects, almost unheard of.

Here is a good range:
1970 914-6 never damaged some rust, as taken apart as any car could be: 5500.00
1971 914-6 5406 original miles, as perfect as any 914-6 could ever be 250.000

Data point: Just purchased a completely rust-free 1970 -6 with non-matching paint, 2.4l T motor and everything else correct and in very good to excellent shape. Appraisal is $58,500. I'll post what the sales price ws after the purchase goes through the credit union (deference to the seller).

914-6 is one of my favorites! I see them go for $50-75k and wouldn't be surprise to see one for more.

That car looks beautiful- correct rear valance from what I can tell. Were Canadian 914's like ROW cars with VW-Porsche badging and lights, etc? Only thing I can niggle on is they don't say whether it is the original engine. If so, 100K doesn't seem totally off the mark.

sixes were so abused and modified over the years, one never knows what they are getting, hence the perfect original cars are rare and very valuable. For example, we just sold a 70 restoration project for 28,500 the guy turned around and sold it the next week for 45 thousand. We just before that sold a 914-6 RUSToration project in a million pieces for 19,500. BoTH would have taken over 100 grand to restore to relative imperfection.
On the other hand, we have probably the world's most PERFECT 1971 Porsche 914-6 with only 5406 original miles on it, and have refused to sell it for 250,000

Any six that is original and near perfect no matter how many miles is worth 100,000 in today's market, but those cars like my opening statement mentioned, are virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find.

Put an un-godly price on it.......but in the end, the market decides, not us.
