Default Looking for Dad's old 914

My dad would like to locate his old 914 he built back in 1997. Any leads are greatly appreciated. The car was known to be in the Santa Clarita, Ca. area at some point, but uncertain of its current whereabouts.
Here are a few pics. It had a unique rear spoiler.
Please PM me with any info or you can email him directly at knittle@***.net...thanks!

Thanks for the reply...

We have a thread over on 914 World that has the Vin and LP #. Some good leads but no luck yet.
Rumor has it the car had a small engine fire and may be mothballed in a garage and out of the public eye for some time...

I remember when the company came out with the accent kit that included that rear spoiler as I thought it was very cool. I probably have the name and info on them somewhere if it would help you in your search.

Really nice looking 914. Good luck.

Update: The car and current owner were located. Unfortunately, he is not interested in parting ways with the car but he and my dad had a good conversation and they will keep in touch in case their is a change of heart. Thanks to all for participating in the hunt.

Congratulations on finding the car and current owner. You never know, once someone finds out the former owner is really wanting to reunite with the car, they may decide it is a good time to sell for a good reason. I hope it all works out for you and your dad. Just finding the car was amazing.

I guess they found the car and left the site - I wanted to hear how they found it too.

A friend of a friend with some connections at the DMV was able to help out.

Interestingly there were quite a few people who responded to the CL ad that my dad placed and they reported seeing it at various events in and around the town in which it is presently located.

Now, non-Porsche related, I would love to find pop's old Triumph, built in the early 70's and sold in the L.A. area around that time. It's probably long gone by now, but ya never know...
1950 Thunderbird 650...

This thread has always interested me because 4-5 months after I got my 914 in December '70 my dad enjoyed it so much he got a late '71 914. Always marveled us how different the two cars were considering they were both '71 models- interior vinyls, and lots of little details were totally different.
Here's a picture of my dad with his car in the summer of 1972- not sure I'd want to find that car though- he was enjoying some great Wisconsin roads near where he grew up (Highway 23 near House on the Rock for anyone familiar with WI) a year or so later and lost it on some curves and tried to take out an Armco barrier... driver's side needed some repair!!

I love steelies... ( you can see through the driver's window a name plaque on the dash. I don't remember if Porsche or the local dealer did that, but my car and my dad's came with a nice plaque with your name and a Porsche crest- mine is still on the dash- after nearly 50 years!)
