Finally got to dig a little deeper. The car had some rust pockets so we decided to cut out portions of the floor. The rails and frame seemed to be in good shape (hasn't been on a lift yet). Decided that the roll cage needed to come out after finding that the roof never properly lined up with the protruding top cross bar. Visually the only real rust issue without fully getting underneath the car has been the floors in the cockpit. There was one bondo patch on the driver B pillar which will need some love as well. Bought some fresh tires to mount on the stock 15s to roll it around (may wind up selling the set at some point down the road). Needless to say the project has legs and we are moving forward. Some pictures are below:

So now we started to remove all hardware to get this car ready for all necessary metal work. All glass has been removed, doors, bonnets, etc. The trickiest thing was the dash frame which is still mounted, it seems the nuts for the remaining bolts are actually in front of the firewall under the front hood.

This one was originally marathon blue metallic a fantastic color, why someone would change it is impossible to imagine This car is also not a 71 but rather a 73 or a 74 model. I would recheck the serial number it will start with 47329 or 47429… Also has been hit in the front and the front panel replaced with the 75 76 style panel.

by the fact that it has a console heater switch and a front factory sway bar, it MAY be one of the 73 2.0 models everyone demands these days

If the aluminum thresholds have not been changed, it is definitely a 73 2.0 and with the painted bumpers and lack of side vinyl and painted roll bar trim, a non appearance group 73 2.0 that would have originally come with Mahle alloy wheels. Pretty rare car.

The sooner you get that car on a lift and check out the underneath, the better off you will be. Please consider adding braces in the door openings before you cut anything else out.
