Default What type of fuel ?

I am in the process of acquiring a '73 2.0 914 and have a question - what type of fuel do you run - regular or premium? Do these cars have catalytic converters? Need to use unleaded only? I live on an airport and have access to 100 octane leaded avgas; it has lots of stabilizers in it and doesn't deteriorate like pump gas with ethanol in it.

73 required premium- 92 or 93 octane in Illinois- you'll probably have trouble finding alcohol free though unless you use the avgas as you mentioned, but you don't need 100 for a stock 914.
'73 never had a cat. Where would you ever find leaded gas these days????

I mix a little avgas in with pump gas when putting my cars and bikes away for the winter; gas is great come spring.
