Steve,
Deals are out there, a buddy of mine just scored this 1974 2.0 out of SLC, Utah. It's a re spray over light ivory for $6,500 with a vin# that puts it in the Limited Edition production category.
Both buyer and seller did not know of the LE factory builds of '74, as I checked into it for him after the sale. The car is rust free and a strong type 4. It is now being put back into its correct light ivory paint, and LE livery for originality +value.
Transportation to L.A. was cheap and only 5 days.

A very nice 914/6 is going to have to be consistently in the 80 to 100k range for me to sell this car. With the recent rise in early 911 prices I can't help but think the 914's are going to be pulled along at some point.
I don't plan to be too early to that party, the best cars are always going to have the best value and there is a lot of upside in my opinion.

Cole

As many have stated I strongly suggest that those that want a 914 start to find the one you want as prices are already on the rise....the days of 2k-5k nice 914s is long gone unless you find a rust bucket. I just sold my 74 2.0l and already miss the go cart handling. Mid engine layouts have a history of becoming very sought after and once things get crazy it will be to late for most. Nice part is as values go up we'll probably start to see more and more nice restorations taking place, its a real shame on how many have been left to rot.

I've located a one-owner 73 bahia red 2.0 with 44k miles. All original paint, motor, trans, never used spare and tire, tool kit, original carpets and mats, all original hoses, fuel injection is intact....nothing has been out of the car. No accidents. The car has the dealer documents, original owner documents, title and paperwork supporting the mileage as original. One owner for 41 years until a fellow porsche enthusiast purchased it in july. Problem is these cars are hard to find and, as a result, just as hard to price...you just don't see that many. I'm talking with the current owner. Will decide tomorrow if we can find a meeting place on price. Will be over $30k if it sells.

Interesting find- sounds like a twin to my '73 but obviously mine is no longer "original."
If you get it, we'll have to see lots of PIX!!! (if it is close to what you describe, 30 probably wouldn't be bad...)

Thanks. Looks like the seller and I reached agreement on a price yesterday. Great car and a really nice seller...a fellow enthusiast. Won't get the car for a couple of weeks but really looking forward to getting familiar with it. I've never driven a 914. Clearly will be a different experience from the TT.

Yep! I often like driving the 914 more than my 996, but totally different cars, of course. You will LOVE the 914! Looks like a beauty you found, 96PorscheTwinTurb. Congrats! Join 914World.com, too.

Thanks Marty. It does seem like a pristine car. Extremely well documented and preserved. I won't have it in my possession for a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

Boy that looks nice!! One word of advice- you may want to take the padding off the engine bulkhead just to check for moisture damage behind it. I found a lot of "surprises" behind mine on the '73. The '71 didn't have one thank God because it is a moisture trap... and you know what leads to . The surface rust on the battery tray should be easy to fix.
ENJOY!!
