Yeah, the garage thing is a big problem. I have a garden area on one side of the house that I plan to eventually concrete over, and then put up a Tough Shed garage or something like that.
I wonder if I start a thread here: "Raise $$ For Cuda911's Garage Fund" if I can get enough folks to chip in.

That Prius owner lives near me, seen him around town, and he DOES have a girly boxster! He has a funky paint job too.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
I'm scheduled to take the car to my mechanic on Tuesday (June 17). I'm preparing a laundry list of items to check/fix:
1. Oil change. The oil in it looks new, but since I don't know when it was last changed, I will take care of doing that.
2. Minor transmission fluid leak. Hate spots on my driveway.
3. Minor oil weeping at rear main seal. Hate spots on my driveway.
4. Horn doesn't work. Of course, I can just use my finger to express displeasure whilst driving, but I'll see what's up with that horn.
5. General inspection. I didn't get a PPI, since I would have lost the car to another buyer if I did. I know the mechanic that did about $4,000 in repairs/servicing on it when it came out of storage in 2011, and he went through it in detail at that time. Today I went over and talked to him about the car and he gave it his "seal of approval".
I'm guessing tranny needs to come out to fix that leak, so I guess that means a transmission fluid change, which is fine with me.

Damn! You stole my DD! I've got '07 987S and I had started looking for another car to play with a few months ago that I could get my son learn to turn a wrench on. A little hands on engineering to offset all that computer and book learning things. Kids need to more real life experiences.
But I've been too busy with a new job.
Saw your Cayman at the Spring PCASDR event but didn't get to talk with you, too many people.
Was maybe thinking of doing an electric conversion on one if I found one needing engine work.

Wow, an electric Cayman conversion... that would be quite the project!
Today I took off the targa top and drove the 914 down to La Jolla and Seaport Village. Everywhere I went, all day long, people made comments and compliments about the car and wanted photos of it... crazy!!! Do you guys get that much attention in your 914s? I never get that many comments in either the Cayman or the 911.
Here's the oddest incident of all today:
I was in La Jolla, waiting in an alley for some friends that I was meeting. I was fiddling with the radio, and heard someone next to the driver's side say something. I looked up, and there was a scruffy, scraggle-bearded, tattooed, shirtless guy with filthy tattered pants. He was swigging whiskey from a bottle in a paper bag.
I looked up and said "what?".
He replied (in a somewhat slurred voice): "Great 914, man.... I haven't seen one of those in years." He took another swig, staggered a bit and nearly fell over, and then said: "Is that the 1800 engine? Your car is great, dude, I never see 914s any more."
Then he gave me that surfer "hang loose" hand gesture and staggered off down the alley.

ON a side note, I think the hate for Prius's is common, I thought it was just me. Today, a guy from work and I went out to lunch and there was a prius in the middle lane, I down shifted to 3rd (from 5th) as I passed, just so she could hear my flat 6 I was doing community service. You know the a H-6 with aftermarket headers and fab speed muffler; its like a free musical.
He looked at me and laughed and said, that was a prius, wasn't it(not a car guy at all, doesn't know his Chevy from a Toyota)? I slowed down and said yes I hate em'. I live WAAAY too close to Ann Arbor, Mi.

Update: 6/21/2014
OK, the car has been inspected in detail. Minor transmission fluid leak was from speedo drive o-ring. Had that replaced.
Bought a set of Mahle wheels.
Bought a set of OEM center caps with Porsche crest.
Now just need new lug bolts.
Today I inspected and cleaned out the rockers. No rust. Some crud behind driver's side rocker. Passenger side was clean.
Put on "Porsche" sticker today (I screwed up the passenger side, so ordering a new sticker. Driver side came out perfect). Very pleased with the look!

Hey! ALL of my mods will be 100% original for this car. The Mahle wheels, the stripes, etc..... all were either original factory options or original dealer options.
Nothing is going onto this car that isn't "period correct."
Two weeks of ownership so far, and I'm in love.

Glad that you're still enjoying it and the honeymoon isn't over!

The pix are at Oceanside harbor, a mile or so from my house.
The more I drive the 914, the happier I am with it... a great car.
The 996 has been barely driven since I got the 914. Now, if only the guy selling me the lug bolts would get his butt in gear and actually mail them... I could get my new Mahle wheels onto the car.

Those Mahle wheels will look great, and very period correct. Either those or the 4 bolt Fuchs.
If I hadn't gone to 5 bolt to run the classic Fuchs I would have kept the 4 bolt Fuchs as they came on the car and I have 5 matching wheels.
Had those wheels on my car for the '74 Parade in the Poconos. A week before the Parade, the dealer wrecked one of my American Racing Mags and since they couldn't get another there in time, they look a whole set off an unsold 914 so we could drive to Penn!!
