Default 75 2.0 Value

Hey
I have some 944's and a 996 and I've been looking/thinking of getting a 914 for fun. What are they "worth" these days? Obviously there's a lot of factors that come into play.

but say an unrestored good/decent shape 75 2.0 car with 88K miles. What's the aprox value of such a car? Are the values going up these days or are they reaching their limit?

thanks

The 1975 big bumper cars are good candidates for 914 ownership. They are bulkier looking than the earlier cars, and have to run air injection+pump, with a single cat convertor. Those items must be kept in operating order for reasons of passing the states smog tests.
BUT if you are in non-smog state or out of the U.S., you can easily remove + store those items. The 914 will run cooler + better...just like
the earlier years. I would estimate this car, as you describe it to be
valued at $4,500 to $6,500. If you plan on buying+restoring it, things
cost as much as restoring a 911; the full rubber replacement can run
over $4,000. Get a ppi on this car, or keep looking...lots of good 914s
out there. Values are on the rise for well sorted 914s, these are the next big Porsche air cooled resto market.

The prices are on the rise (it;s anyone's bet where they will stop considering the prices of other air cooled cars lately). I think around 6 would be reasonable for a big bumper car ('75 and '76) if it is in good shape. Remember the odometers on these are 100k and then reset, so verify that mileage number you have. It could very well be 188 or possibly 288

I agree with Falcon on the rubber- I just bought all the rubber for my 914 and it ran me just over 4k.

And I'm sure you know already, but it's worth repeating- these cars RUST. Check everywhere (pull the rockers, battery tray, inside front fenders, ect.). A low rust or rust-free car is going to command a higher price immediately these days

Curious what you guys think 73-74 2.0 liter with appearance group in restored mint condition is worth these days ? Are the air cooled 914's really starting to appreciate like 912E's and 74-77 911's ?

Good to hear someone else quote those same numbers .. I bought my 73 about a year ago, and prices were 12-15k mint and 18k range for concours. .. Checking a few car magazines and offerings on eBay .. I would agree with you.. I'm going for full concours restoration. Bought the car for pennies on the dollar and sold all the non original (wheels,exhaust,etc..) equipment ...

Who would have thought that these $5,500.00 912e's could be sought after? Made up from a bunch of leftover type 4/ 914 parts?
Made only for the U.S. export market, low production #s, and a fun , economical 911 bodied car with a 915 gearbox= modern day restorable Porsche.
The 911sc cars are even rising in values now days.
Turns out that all of our western dry states kept these species in good shape for restorers of today.

Funny story , I bought 912E while on vacation in Hawaii , it had fire damage to the engine and salvage title overall decent condition with 82k original miles I won the auction .. And while I was shipping it back to Cali , I decided to post the car on Craigslist .. Sold the car for a hefty profit before the car arrived.... The guy who bought it owned the same car, same color, two digits separate vin numbers. The guy I sold it to , sold both cars at a package deal and off to Germany ...
