Default Help-Question about installing new targa bar pad

What's the trick to installing the targa bar pad? Am I going to have to remove the vertical pads on either side just beneath it (the ones with the coat hooks) in order to install safely?

-frustrated and ignorant

It's been a while since I pulled that out, but I would guess you have to pull the backpad, then the side pads, then the top piece.

thanks. Had to pull the sides, then the top. Damn, "working" on this car will make a man of me yet. Tons of trouble trying to seat all those tapping screws. Any secret there?

Nope. I think the only way to do it is perseverance and a nice screwdriver.

i had tonnes of headaches with that if it is what i think it is on my car you have to hook it in while pushing it forward and up ,the problem is the rear window seal gets in the way i only ended up grabbing about half the hooks what a nightmare

We're talking 914. I'm guessing you clicked on the wrong forum or had a typo.

But either way, targa pads in and car can be a pita.
