thanks for the re-post, and for not flogging me for the sarcasm. Are you sure yours is an OEM 914 jack?

Sure!
That's the problem, the jack with the separate operating lever was sold to me as a '72.5 > o.e. jack. I know that I've seen them before, but I can't remember for what application! It is a Bilstein, while the other, general purpose, jack is made by Bosch for a few different car makes.

Wow I have. Been looking all over for this
Same rubber part number as the 911 and mine snapped twice.
I got one at Hershey last year for 2 bucks but it snapped. I have the hardware so definitely gonna score these. Pete a guy tried to give me a couple of the 914 ones but I wouldn't take them. Lol

I believe the one you have secured in the trunk with the rubber straps is the later style jack. The one you have with the long round rod that raises and lowers the jack is the early jack. If your car has the trunk mounting points close to the bulkhead, next to the shock towers, it calls for the later jack. If your car has the metal clamp mechanism along the driver's side of the trunk close to the taillight, it takes the early jack. Now all of that is based from memory from 1 '73 914 I owned and 3 914-6's I have owned. My '71, has the original early style jack which is secured by the metal clamp.
