Great job, very cool car! If you need a plug for the tow hook hole in the rear bumper let me know, I think I know where to find one!

And, please, switch those w/wipers! The arm with the bend should be on the passenger side, and the blade tips should be about 24mm apart at their closest point. Thanks!

Damn...that's an impressive catch right there. My wiper switch does not function, but we threw the blades on til we get a new one installed. Very impressive.

Also, apparently none of these cars left the factory (regardless of destination) with a hood shield installed. I think I'm either going to remove mine altogether or leave it alone. Like the ultimate dumbass I am I have caused hood damage already, thus creating an "opportunity" to address the hood emblem issue.

NOTE! When you do your wiper switch fix make sure that you remove the wiper arms first. That way, after switch work, when you turn on the wipers, they won't scrape across your cowl trying to park! Also, before doing a switch make sure that you check the relay, which is usually the wipers-no-worky culprit.

Always make sure the wiper posts are "parked" before installing the wipers! With luck you won't have to do what I had to on my car (frame and motor removal, de-rust, lubricate, etc.), which requires gas tank removal! My wiper posts were actually seized, so I couldn't have damaged anything if I tried!

Funny you should say that Pete. I was putting the wiper motor assembly back in the silver car after the repaint (nearly 20 years ago now!!) and I didn't check my wiring first and had the wiper arms on unfortunately. Turned them on to check and of course they immediately ground right into the body...
Unplugged some wiring real quickly but put a nice gouge in the new paint...
Won't make that mistake again putting the red car together!!

update: crest is being removed and hood repainted. Long story, but the reader's digest version is...I suck.

Good, yeah. It's just money, right?

I was in a hurry after fueling up the other day, tried to close the frunk lid, and it wouldn't close. So instead of pulling my head out of my **** and wondering aloud (or to myself) why it's behaving this way for the first time since I owned it, I just tried to close the lid with more force.

I had the gas cap sitting at 90 degrees in the overfill reservoir, and voila, beautiful new dimple on my brand new hood. It was pronounced enough that I could see it while driving the damned car.

So I am having it refinished, repainted, and decided to remove the crest at the same time.

ugly stuff

I have come so close to doing that myself! No worries. Look on the bright side, you lose the hood badge.

Like the unsuspecting 356 owners who think you just pull down to shut the hood... most older 356 hoods have a little bend in them because you have to LIFT it a little first and then lower it.

BTW, almost done that myself a few times- sorry for your mishap!

I think you did it on purpose so you could justify moving the crest
