I need the shift rod in the tunnel, for a side shifter car. Part # 914 424 065 00; it connects between the shift lever and the coupler. Please pm me if you have one to sell...

I don't have one - lots of tail shifter stuff. I'd say try Brad or Perry. They must have one.

I think that I found one, I'll let you know.

Little story. I ordered one (shift rod) from Auto Atlanta. Everything was good to go, the price was $65, and I added a couple more things to the order. That was Friday last week. They call me yesterday (Wednesday), the $65 price became $120 - because of the labor that I must pay to them to remove the part from a car!!! Are you kidding me? Isn't "the labor" already factored in to the price of a junk yard part? I canceled the order. The entire order.

I don't think you could make up an AA story that I would find surprising.

It's funny, I've spent a lot of money (by 914 standards) with them over the last few months. You would think that they would know what side of the bread their butter is on...

It's too bad, I guess they don't realize how much $60 now is going to "cost" them down the road...

Peter, I work at AA. I am very sorry for the bad taste in your mouth. Sometimes the "higher ups" make decisions that I don't agree with, and in your case, had I been your salesperson, I would have argued like mad to make sure you got the part at the price you were quoted.

I know it is a case of "too little, too late", but is there anything I can do to make this situation better.

I am happy that you were able to find the part that you needed, by the way. Even if it wasn't with us.

You, whomever you are, have gone a long way toward making me feel better about your company. I found the part I needed, from an independent, at a very fair price. I was able to find the other parts that were on your canceled order elsewhere, also at a savings.

I have dealt with AA in the past because you have delivered the goods, but I will try to do more competitive shopping in the future. I must tell you that I will never deal with you again if I'm quoted a price, and I'm expecting my order to arrive, and I get a call four or five days later advising me of a price increase. I didn't argue the quoted price with your salesman, and I don't expect that a mid-stream price change will occur with a used part.

AA is not the only game in town, and your parts generally don't arrive at my address in less than seven days. To develop long-term customer loyalty, from time to time a business has to take its lumps with an eye toward the future. You seem to understand that, it remains to be seen if AA management does as well.

They don't realize it. I have yet to hear from someone that buys stuff from AA and doesn't have some story where they get screwed.
