I have a 2 liter motor in my basement ready to go, but I am going to stay with the 1.7 for now as I really want to keep the car as stock as possible. I just can't take the mini-van ride anymore.

Jay,
put a cover on it, keep it stock, and get another car to have fun with. Seriously. At this point, anything you do to it is going to devalue it from original. One of the reasons there are very few truely original cars out there is people eventually get the itch to 'change' something, and the process begins....and never ends.
if you MUST do something, just do springs, torsion bars, and shocks. oh, and get wider wheels and tires. 205/50 15 fit just fine. Keep all the original stuff, and be ready to swap back if need be.

Bob,
I have no interest in track or AX the car. I am only doing springs and shocks at most. I will get tires once I find some alloys for it. Thanks Bob, I know you know your stuff! I certainly want to keep it easy to put back to stock. I am putting new pads in it this spring so I can keep the orig. pads in good shape. Thanks!

my problem is...I can't keep things stock. that green perfect 914 I had was really nice, but honestly...it was...boring. sorry everyone, that's just my opinion.
If you're just doing it so it drives nicer on roads, no need at all to do a swaybar. Shocks, springs, torsion bars and it will be a completly different car! but don't fall into the 'wow, this is great! Now, if I just do...."
That's what happens to me. Hence Huey and Papa Smurf....

Steve,
Yes, I thought you were going to let me know when they were off and getting shipped. I will send the check out ASAP when you are ready. Sorry if I was confused, it happens easily.

Oh no problem I thought maybe you changed your mind. I am supposed to get my new springs this week, so as soon as I get them I will let you know and get the others out and to you.
Thanks
Steve

What places do people recommend to get shocks from? Also, I am not looking for a super agressive shock, but I do plan on AX it from time to time and enjoy driving aggressively on the off and on ramps!

For fun, check out the elephant racing site. They have "tier" packages for suspensions.. "stock" to "full race". Gives an idea of components to consider at the very least. I imagine lots of the rubber bushings in your car could be questionable. They are nealy 40 years old afterall (if truly as "original" as you say ) And I would think that the first real aggrssive use of them could cause instant crumbling.

Thanks Matty! Paragon is having some really good sales right now. I will also check out Elephant as well as I enjoy playing with their site. I am looking for this car to be more of a fun street car then anything, so I think my bushings are fine until they start talking to me.

Hey Jay,
I am pretty sure I have a set of KYB rear shocks that I only used a few years before going to Billstein adjustables. They were new in 2004 and only have a few thousand miles on them. Let me know. Sorry to hijack your thread again.
