For that kind of money, I'd think a 916 would be a better buy?

Hard to compare all these car as they are very different
916- 11 built, these are prototype cars never offered for sale to public.
914/6 GT 82 built, some factory built some built at dealerships
If you want rare try a 914/8 two built, one with full on 908 race motor, on "detuned" for street use. The 914's have never had the appeal of 911 from a collectability standpoint but that is starting to change. The 914/6's are worth more than a comparable 911T, they sold for the same when new.

There were never 82 914-6 GT's built.Yes, conversion kits(called M62 kits) were sold by the factory, but the factory only built about 38.These numbers have always been in dispute because of poor record keeping at the time. There are still conversion kits out their unsold, but very hard to find.

How do I know.I owned the #5 GT that won the GTU class @ the 71' Daytona 24.Driven by Jacque Duvall and Bob Bailey.

Hard to say what todays market will dictate, but I'd say any GT with history has gotta be worth $250,000+.

I agree, a REAL GT that is in good to excellent condition is going to be worth $200K + with documented history.
