8bender,
Gene is a really nice guy and can help you out. You can also try Bob Kakascik of Europerf/Stable Energies in Garfield (973) 773-4870. He has been a big 914 guy for many years and built some great 914 race cars. There is also PowerTech (Mike Carr) that should be able to help you (973) 361-7743
If you are desperate for a tranny I have 2 sideshifter trannys. I do not know what condition they are in but they were working when I dismantled the cars they were in 10 years ago. I have lots of 914 parts and I have offered some of them for free and some for a small price to Rennlist/PCA Members in the Northern NJ area that can stop by Hoboken and pick them up. If you need anything and are willing to rummage through my pile of parts PM me. I have too many parts to list so I am only interested in people that are willing to come buy and look and talk.

In NJ, the two best IMHO are Keith Peare of PowerTech and Bob Kakascik of Europerf. Both are not only 914 mechanics, but they race 914s as well (and wickedly fast too).
