original six has ~115 hp 2.0 liter flat 6 engine. it can be replaced but you'll need a bit of modifications to engine mounts, exhaust etc

The stock 2.0 L "T" engines HP is 125 at the flywheel.
The engine is the same engine they put in the 69 911T

We just had my 914/6 on a dyno and the engine had 146 HP. This is the 914/6 2.0 L engine after a rebuild by Emory Motorsports.

I think the 914-6 GT 2.0 ( 1991cc ) put out 220HP with high compression. Le Mans car.
Mine needs to be on a dyno for my curiosity.

It's fast and fun.

It seems to me that useable torque and driveability is more important than horsepower. I have a 2.0L 914/6 engine with E cams and S pistons that is a kick to drive. It will put a grin on your face for sure. I also have a 2.7L RS spec engine for that same car that will put out a bit more power and alot more torque. But 911R cams might prove a bit more of a challenge to drive comfortably on the street, though over 200 hp is available from that engine.

A stock 2.0L 4 cylinder 914 engine will beat my 914/6 off of a line and is a kick to drive all day long.

But there are always those who must quote HP numbers to impress their "friends"; for them a small block chebbie engine might be best.

"It seems to me that useable torque and driveability is more important than horsepower."

HP is just a measurement of torque applied over time.

I have a 2.7rs that makes 240hp with 200lbs of torque across the power band. It's a little fussy (doesn't like being babied on the street) but a great performance engine. I also have a 3 liter with 308hp that makes my little teener as fast as the turbo's.

I have always wanted to put a 70's 911s motor in a 914/6. Some day.

Hi there.

I'm just looking at the nice rebuild on that motor. Do those yellow cowlings have any significance? I haven't seen them that colour before in the UK.

Regards,

Rufus.

How did you get 308 hp out of a 3.0?

I have a 3.2 and get 265hp 215lbs of torque. It's carbed with 46's and stock heat exchangers. Headers would lower the torque but up the hp a little. Crank fire ignition too.

A European 3litre puts out 305hp straight from the factory.
