Advice on the value of this 914

I don't get it ... it says "Classifieds" at he top of the page, but this guy lists his car with NO price whatsoever; not even a OBO. That tells me that even HE doesn't know what it's worth, so he's just fishing.
The car is unremarkable, and not one of the preferred years or engine size. $3.5K - $4K tops, for all the new seals and such, site unseen.

I've been searching for awhile now, and met 3 people now that don't know what to ask for their car."Make me an offer?" Aggravating.
THe car looks straight and clean. I would say 4-6k IF no $ needs to be spent on it.
I personally would not pay more than 4 for a car that doesn't have really nice paint, which this car doesn't, from the look of the pics.

I would have to agree with Martin. For me the 1.8 is the big thing. The bumpers can be changed. (Lets go ahead and do that on mine Martin) My car is in many ways much like this car. It is a 2.0 but completely original. It needs many of the seals this one has. It didn't have Fuchs which I had to go find for $400.00 I paid $6500.00 and it has been appraised at just under $10,000. Mine came with maintainance records and the window sticker but other than that it is much like this car.
It would be a steal at $4500.00 but I would not be shocked if it sold for $7000.

The 1.8l get's an unfound bad wrap at times. I have a 75 1.8l engine and it's fine. The real issue with the 1.8l is finding someone knowledgeable on ljet fuel injection (better then djet in my opinion). Once you have the ljet nailed it is a rock solid fuel injection system (hey..they used ljet on my 83 928!). About the only thing that can really affect the ljet is vacuum leaks...but if all is tight you are good to go! Also, if you ever have to replace the MAF meter they can be pricey.
