914 at the Petersen
The Petersen museum in Los Angeles has a small exhibit now called Uncompromised Design, highlighting the mid-engine heritage of some Porsche models. They have 3 cars on display: a 550, a 914-6, and a 918.

Nice!!! (Gotta go to the Petersen sometime when I'm also there to see the Reagan Library. But after battling LA traffic for the recent Rare Shades 4 event, I'm in NO hurry to drive back to LA!!!!)

Silver Six belongs to my good bud Carson. I got word via the Petersen that they were in need of a silver, stockish, 9146 for several months...and here she sits . Pampered daily and looked after by the Petersen docens. Hey George...you may have sold this one to Carson...

remodel since you've first been there. The original concrete bones of the building & parking structure were built for the Seibu Dept store in the 1960's . It was way ahead of its time...but couldn't make it in the USA and vacated (There are many Seibu stores today in Japan and 1 in Indonesia). An Orbachs Dept store followed, then an indoor swapmeet...then vacant for many years. The Petersen was formally opened in 1994, we attended the gala evening event. Met Mr. / Mrs Robert Petersen, Mr./Mrs. Carrol Shelby, the Mayor, and many more. It's been a welcome member of LACMA here on Wilshire Blvd. the "Miracle Mile" as it was named in the Art Deco era .

Miracle Mile arra of the West side of L.A. today , aka LACMA " Museum Row" . Petersen Auto Museum just to the right in pic, SE corner of Wilshire + Fairfax. The building under re-construction is the original (art deco era) May Company dept store; today part of LACMA.

Same corner of Wilshire + Fairfax, this pic was the late 1950's. May Co. building at NE corner, and the future site of the Seibu Dept store (bus-stop) , then re-purposed into the Petersen museum, appears in pic as a small retail parcel.

great thread. i had a 914/6 and it caught fire 45 years ago ( darn webers ) and i also lived at mulholland and laurel canyon for 50+ years.
I remember well the may co and better yet, the orbachs' dept store where peterson now resides.
i haven't been there since even before biggie got shot. i'd visit again, but i don't want to get shot.
you know. los angeles circa 2020.
