Help me find the history of this 914.

Hi guys,

Have recently purchased this '71 914 in Melbourne, Australia. It was imported to Australia from the US by the previous owner in 2008. VIN No. 4712901419. Car is guards red, but was delivered new in L96E Gemini Blue.
It has California plates still on it 6DHE420.

I've attached a couple of pics in the hope someone may recognise it, or know of a previous owner that I could chat with and find out a bit of history about it. Car runs very nicely, and was restored not that long ago given its condition and mileage.

Thank you,
Dino.

you could hire a title clerk registered with the state of California to do the research and ownership history for a fee, and find out all about the car.

If I recall correctly, and that's a big if, you can go to the DMV and complete a form asking for ownership history going all the way back to when first registered in CA and they will furnish that. Cost s a few dollars. They send a notice to the current owner that you are looking at the car's history I believe. I also do not believe you get the physical address but you may get a name. It's a starting point. Good luck.
