1985 S timings advances jumps too quick hesitation
I have a bucking issue when accelerating thru 1800- 2000 RPMs and also when I let off the throttle at slow speeds (like when driving slowly through a parking lot).
I put a timing light on the car and when I increase the RPMs from idle ( about 950) to 1200 or 1300 RPMs, the timing jumps immediately from 10' to approx. 45' BTDC. It is not linear at all. (Note: no load on engine.). Is this right? What is wrong?
Recently, I did an intake refresh and replaced all sleeves, hoses and installed a vacuum guage in the cockpit to monitor vacuum. It read 15-17 at idle and it appears to drop normally with acceleration depending on power demands. Recent distributor caps, coils ohms ok, stock spark plugs, fuel pressure okay from electrical pump (engine off).
Any ideas. Car is miserable to drive slowly. If I get on it, acceleration is pure 928 - smooth and fast, never missing a beat.
