I have recently bought my 1st Porsche, a 1969 912 that was love at first drive.

I think I ahve a damaged ring gear (starter mounts to it) and was wondering.......

1. Should I try dropping the tranny to repair myself and rebuild the tranny myself.

2. Let someone else do it. I am very close to "the maestro" and it seems like this might be the better way to go for a 1st timer on a project of this magnitude.

The ringgear sits on the flywheel and so it is a easy repair.
