Check this out. I was clearing a stack of paperwork from my office and found this from early 2008. This is a 1968 912, Signal Yellow, 1 owner, completely original and stock with 46000 miles on the clock. Another one of those stories where I was fixing a furnace and saw the thing in the garage stuffed with kids clothes and grade school projects. IIRC, there were trash bags full of yarn piled on top of it. The family just stopped driving it because it was too small. Once it sat around it wouldn’t start. So of course I have to ask if I could buy it. I wrote a check on the spot for $3500. I drove back with my trailer and a new battery, 5 gallons of fuel, spare jug, and a fuel pump. I figured to replace the battery and turn the key to see it it lights up. Well it did. Checked all the lights, turn signals and then decided what the heck. Let’s start it. I opened up the trunk and removed the cap on the top of the fuel tank and sucked out about 3 gallons of fuel. Put the 5 gallons of fresh fuel in it and fired it up. It started so I drove it into he trailer.

I learned the hard way that you don’t attempt to start a car that has been sitting for nearly a decade without squirting some lubricating fluid into he cylinders. So shortly there after I took it to Jason Duarte at RS Enterprises in Ventura and he pulled the engine and installed new bearings, rings, and cylinders. Several thousand later it was running great. I sold it a year later for $19K to a nice man from Torrance who loved the car and saw the value

. Probably worth twice that today!

I think I gave the award to the new owner. Would love to reconnect with him.

The photo was taken at a PCA Zone 8 concours where I won un-restored class. Hahaha! Good times.

veyfr nice, I see why you like yellow now ;-)
but dude, you should have kept it. in 2021, good 912 will break $100k, mark my words.
my E and T are both bought quite a bit over 100, making my new new RS look like a bargain
