Default 912 won't hold idle- help!

Sad to say, but I'm a newbie to my 912. Was running fine and all of a sudden it now won't hold idle. Starts fine, and if I press on gas it runs smoothly. Once I let off the gas, it drops in rpms, sputters and dies.

Checklist of things to take e a look at?

Okay, can you spray around the carb base with carb clean or brake clean & see if the idle responds? That will eliminate a possible vacuum leak at the base gasket. Careful though, you are spraying a flammable fluid at an engine so take precaution.

You are just looking for a fluxuation with the idle speed.
