Remove carpet to take out gear shifter?
Gang:
I was going to remove my gear shifter today to install some new bushings.
It looks like I have to remove the carpet to get the shifter out? Anyone done it any other way?

Yes, just make a cut in the carpet front and back of the shifter housing enough to get access to the two allen screws. Only you will know the cuts are there because it won't show.
