Calling Phil, TT, and other pricing gurus...
So I need to make some changes to the P-car stable and decided my '88 turbo should go up for sale.
Now I have a pretty good idea what kind of $$$ I should be looking for but thought I would ask you guys what you think.
It's an eleven thousand mile time capsule that I have owned since '99.
Pics were taken a couple days ago.

Gerry,
If that were my car I'd send to one the high end auction companies for the Monterey auctions. I don't follow the market for the later turbo's - so I am no expert on a 88 valuation but that car should bring very strong money. It's certainly worth more than you paid for it

I was just talking to a local owner of a low mileage 76 or 77 Turbo couple of days ago and he told me he sent his car to Sloan to broker. I think many of us are familiar with Sloan and their mode of operation. The numbers he mentioned were eye opening!

Chris I think you may be a bit light. A GP White 88' with a 100k on it just sold for 70 grand in zooport beach at the Russo & Steele auction. I think it was the same car that languished on Long Island a few months back.

Gerry,
I think your car's low mileage puts it in a very different price category.
Also, there seems to have been a significant change in the value of these cars in the last six months. I was not aware of this until a friend pointed out that the average value quoted by Hagerty on my 86 went from $66k to $113k since last December.
You are in a tricky situation, nobody wants to leave money on the table.

I am not Phil or TT Surgeon, but when I grow up I want to be just like them!
FWIW: the latest issue of Panaroma shows other similar Turbos for sale with higher mileage at an asking price of $90k /- My 1987 with 72k miles had a *real* offer of $85k from my friend which I declined (I am not used to making money on cars!).
IMHO your car is worth easily north of $100k probably an easy $125k.

Assuming you don't need to dump it asap, (and it doesn't appear that you do), why not hold out for $135k+. Somebody will pay it. Its mileage puts it in a whole new arena compared to most. You are in a position to set the market outside of the auction houses. All the cars available on the regular sites for that money have more miles or cosmetic mods/performance mods that cost money to undo. My .02.

Thanks all for your insights.
I know '89s bring a few more $$$ than '88s but this 89 with 57,000 mi. just sold for $145,500 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=321774439327
This 89 with 30,000 mi. is up to $95,100 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=251992464220
These may be easier to take as reality than looking at the asking prices on ebay, autotrader, and so on.
My thoughts anyway.
