Restoration - Rules of Enagagement
I'm getting close to picking up a 1981 930. It's driving, road registered and passes the required road safety checks. 130Ks (80K miles). I've had many cars, but this would be my first Porsche.
It's not "rough", but it is very "tired". It's a 34 year old car that has been driven hard. It's genuine though, un-molested. The converted price is 45K USD.
The car as is sure won't be winning any concours awards. My desire though is to bring it to that standard. This would be "my car", I would never sell it.
What is "best practice" around:
* Changing the steering wheel.
* Changing the color.
* Removing weight and simplifying things such as the carpeting etc - as Singer do with many of their cars.
* Changing the seats.
* Placing period authentic, but non original to this car decals - martini, carrera etc (I know, I know, but they look so cool!).
Thanks for the help! My desire is to do this right; and create a great car; my car. I don't want to damage what is a true classic.

Very simple rule: your money + your tastes = your car.
I've been restoring the interior on my 930 to original while doing bolt on mods to the engine. Original looks, but more HP, is my style.
