For what its worth this is my opinion of its value in lumps of components
Tub with brakes and suspension = $12,000
Transmission= $4,000
Running motor= $8000 plus
Not a lot of downside risk.

From the photos provided, it appears as if you might have a cool fallback position........like the red Mustang fastback just behind the wrppaed track rat !
I'd certainly consider that option......in fact, I call dibs on the 'stang before Igooz does !

the whole car has a wrap- the carbon parts are just a 3m carbon look. The idea was cool but it looks like a faux LV from Canal street. First thing to go. Since paint is the last of my plans I will re wrap the car in Oracle Midnight Blue Satin or Onyx Black ( undecided) with a buddy who wraps P- Cup Cars. The costs are negligible since we have materials and I got the sweat equity to put into it to prep.
Car should be here this week. I appreciate the advice. I got the car for under 20K which gives me some comfort, but there were receipts up to 20k on the car recently so it may not be as bad a start as I feared.
I hope I can come back from advice along the way.......I will post pics on a new thread documenting the journey as soon as it arrives.
If anyone is bored today, check out my BMW LS2 build thread on Bimmerforums...pics and videos on first thread / and final at end of thread....

First modification.....shifter is limp. Please let me know thoughts on best fix...WEVO?
It's really sloppy- really sloppy.
Second- those are original BBS wheels. I am looking for OEM Fuchs in black, Magnus Welkers in copper or maybe something newer in 16x10 for the rear...
- what are the BBS worth? tradable??
- what are some cool wheel choices...that wont break the bank. OEM Fuchs at 5k are pretty steep unless I could trade out the BBS.

I know it's probably difficult with the excitement of your new toy, but maybe you should be putting your efforts on thinking what needs to be mechanically functional before all else.
How much disposable income do you have available? Budget your money. Work in steps. Before thinking about a Wevo shifter, is the transmission sound? You might need the cash for a trans rebuild before you can use the Wevo.
Good Luck!

One of the first things I did when I bought my first 911. I should have stopped there.

I may be overly optimistic, and I seriously appreciate the reality check comments. I am expecting the car to be pretty close to 100% mechanically.
Little on the history of the car:
-original owner passed- car sat for several years.
- car winds up at my buddies shop- sits around more ( personal relationship to original owners).
- sends to Speedwerks in Nyack for a mechanical assessment and tune up, fluid change. Car comes back with a clean bill- but still has a few issues- steering shaft bushing shot / shifter bushings shot / paint shot / interior has some mold.
-not wanting to get to deep into the car, chooses short term solution and wraps the car in matte black, installs 2 Cobra Racer Pro seats and a 4 pt roll bar.
- gets new rubber and wheels painted to match wrap.
- car goes back to Speedwerks and gets some crazy heat exchanger headers with twin center exhaust and steering column fixed.
- car continued to sit around
- I express some admiration for it and so he offers it to me.
-I have all original interior parts which will eventually need to be redone and reinstalled. My plan is to bring it back to classic and original over time.
Provided it proves out to be mechanically sound. Immediate attention will go toward repairing shift linkage, removing wrap, addressing the minor ?? rust bubbles and then wrap in Oracle Midnight Blue Satin wrap. If possible change the wheels to something I like more- maybe the wheels like good on the blue. Just not a fan of the matte wrap and BBS wheels.
Future upgrade : AC upgrade / suspension bushings / ss brake lines and fluid over winter.
Next summer - have all interior parts recovered.
I have to stop watching Magnus Walker and Chris Harris driving a singer 911 on you tube....POISON

ok- went for 2 hour drive today up in Bear Mtn / 9A area. What a wonderful car. Cant believe it is almost 35 years old.
The Good
I think the car runs fantastic. .......So what did I learn today.
Tracks straight on the highway / no vibrations or shakes at 60 /70/ 80/90 / to 120
Little oil around the head studs...not much...car was sitting for months on trickle - fired right up.
Car was hard to start after I drove it for an hour and shut it off.
Car pulled strongly but once mid throttle the car felt to be breaking up....like bad fuel. But it cleared.
Brakes fantastic
Suspension feels great- 100% stock- fine for now.
Shifter and linkage / trans and clutch were perfect - fine for now
New wind shield installed
Has headers and straight pipes. 2 center tubes...not too loud surprisingly
Brakes were done- fronts have new rotors, pads and SS lines.
The receipts add up to more than I paid for the car...but there is still so much more to do....will need to prioritize.
Head liner and door panels perfect
carpeting perfect
power accessories all work
The Bad:
Speedometer does not work until I am going 15-20 mph them springs to life.
odometer is not working......!! I know the dash and gauges were out...hoping that is the reason.
AC and all the components were removed when it was being converted to a track rat. ( need to source replacement)
Oil gauge pinned on full?
boost gauge pinned on 1 bar
clock not working
Original radio / speakers and wires removed.
Dash board was removed and painted black ( was saddle)
Roll cage was welded in /needs to go since this will not be a track car.
Cobra seats are ok- but have to go along with harnesses- I want to OEM seats back in- they need to be recovered but otherwise seem in good shape.
Ash tray missing.
Rear seats removed and new carpet installed / need to source rear seats
Misc parts missing like hea light washer gone
Driver door handle sticks
Headlights are very week
The Ugly:
Wrap is really bad and the paint underneath is awful.
Was repainted in some areas- no body damage-- but paint comes up with wrap...will need to do complete wet sand..original paint was black-
RS rear bumper installed to wrk with headers / have to decide to change back ort change front to RS bumper
Wheels are OEM BBS painted matte gray/ black- don't like...
Great news is that it runs awesome and the work will be all cosmetic. I could actually just drive it as it is ....
Other than the odometer being out...and the AC removed. Nothing is really surprising. I drove for a long time today with no AC and was surprisingly comfortable.
What did I like most....you really feel something when you drive the car. Even off boost and cruising at 40 in the local roads of Putnam county...it delivers a fun factor that I don't get from newer cars at much higher speeds.
