Default Classic Motor Oil...Engineered in Weissach

First I've heard/seen of these...Pano, May issue, page 71.

Porsche branded, Engineered in Weissach, Classic Motor Oil, 20w-50, red can, with a 356, long-hood 911, and 2.7 911 on the front.

Porsche branded, Engineered in Weissach, Classic Motor Oil, 10w-60, grey can, with a Carrera, 964, and 993 on the front.

With the various vehicles displayed on each can, I suspect both of these Engineered-in-Weissach formulations have high AF/AW packages [confirmed in the fine print].

Out of curiousity, does anyone:
- have experience with this oil,
- know which manufacturer blends the formulations for Porsche, or
- know of any positive/negative reviews

I saw the same thing...and it looked really cool! Great packaging and marketing IMO...I might buy a couple of cans for "looks".

The "genuine" parts margins are HUGE. The oems love to sell us oem parts and we pay more because we know (assume) that these parts are better So I am not surprised to see Porsche boutique oil...BMW, MB, Motorcraft (FoMoCo) and Mopar all do the same...I wonder if the formulation is really different? I don't know...no experience here.

Yeah, Porsche boutique oil = probably [too many] $$$.

If/when I investigate prices/content, I'll report my findings in this thread.

I'd also be interested to hear what the oil gurus have to say after they get an opportunity to analyze this product.

Hey guys,

I figure I might as well cross-post this to see how much traction I can get. Reinvigorating old threads seems to be my theme today...
I'm on the hunt for more Porsche Classic Oil information.

So I initially started posting much of the info I had gathered, over in the RL 964 Turbo section,.. and in fact posted today a write-up of a internal document I acquired. Check it out if you have time (jump link below).

But I also cross-posted to the 964 forum, just to see if any of those guys are using the Classic 10w-60.

Now decided to post here too, since many of us have the same 3.3l Turbo motors, so our oil demands are quite similar.

Take a read over in these two areas, then hopefully someone can chime in & say that they have found the Zinc/Ph numbers for the 10w-60, and better yet, has tried it, or had it tested with Blackstone.
Cheers,
