Being a 930 fan, I found your thread and have started reading it. I just wanted to comment on how great your car has turned out and how "new" it looks, which I guess isn't surprising given all the work you've done to it. Its also amazing how good this car still looks 40 years later. Not all the Porsche designs have withstood the test of time, but this one certainly has!

Nope, not even close. I was a bit naive 5 years ago when I started this process. Plus, once Wes and I started talking about what I wanted to end up with, it became crystal clear I couldn't have what I truly wanted at that price point. I'm not comfortable revealing exactly what it cost me but it exceeded $100K, which when I see what I got for my money, I still think it was worth it. I'm not a wealthy individual, compared to a lot of guys on this site, but I truly saw this as a long-term investment. If I was going to spend the money to have it restored once, I might as well invest the resources to have it done to the highest level possible. Granted, it'll never be a concurs car because I don't have a few of the original parts (tranny for one), but the restoration was done to a concours level. Everything on the car was either restored or replaced...and, back to as original as possible. I racked up quite a bill just on parts, which most of them are either NOS or Porsche OEM. The way I see it, I have a virtually brand new 930 for 1/2 the price of what it would have cost me to buy a very nice, low-mileage original car. I can understand why people, or a collector, would want an "original" car, but this just wasn't financially feasible for me especially in 2014 when the value of these cars was headed for the stratosphere. Oh well, guess I'm a bit biased at this point since it's my car ;-). I guess the point is that I have no regrets and am extremely pleased with the outcome.

Hey 1990Ruf,
Feel free to post...great color! You say you plan to sell it...let's wait until you're finished and then see if you can part with it. These are such fantastic cars!

Often, these projects go completely wrong due to time, expense, and changes in priorities over a period of 3-5 years.
