If you retard your ignition timing, via an aftermarket engine management solution, or otherwise, you will almost surely pass. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Just get a Electromotive Tec-II and program in a "pass smog test" setting.

So far it looks like SF is the most expensive place on earth... I'm having the rebuild done in Toronto. I have a mechanic with whom I'm very happy, and the labour is all in Canadian dollars! It seems like you can have almost any amount of horsepower you like. It's just a financial decision...

Maybe compared to Toronto, but last summer, I thought the cost of living in TO was pretty high. The real cost shock that you will face is home prices. The SF/Bay area is about as high as you can get in North America. After finding a home, all else should be pretty much as in Toronto. Don't forget, we have no darn GST! Best of luck w/ the 930 re-build. Total or top/bottom?
