Mike-
I'm no expert on this (or any) subject for sure, but there was a lot of chat on this subject on various forums at Rennlist. You may want to use the SEARCH function to get a background/path forward.
It goes something like... "just because there is no oil coming out, does that really mean there's no leak?" It appears Mobil 1 does a bang up job of dissolving old crap, over-cooked Dino-meat and sludge that it sets free what would have blocked, and now it leaks.
A good/bad thing...

I understand the problem to be that Mobil 1 is more slippery than regular oil, thus tends to find it's way out easier. I had the same problem with switching to a synthetic oil on an air-cooled motorcycle, which went away when I changed back to a traditional oil. IMHO, you are better off fixing the oil leaks and using Mobil 1( or any synthetic) because of the high temperatures the 930 runs at.

I think you are referring to the valve cover gasket, not the head gasket, since a 911/930 doesn't use a head gasket. If you are talking about the valve cover gasket, you can re-tighten these. Someone else may know the correct torque off the top of their head, I think it is around 15-20 ft/lbs. The other option would be to replace the valve cover gaskets. Not a big project either to do yourself or pay someone to do.
My first step would be to tighten them a bit, and see if the problem goes away. Be careful not to over towque them, or your probelm will become more complicated.
By the way, what grade Mobile 1 are you using, and what grade oil were you using before?

Mobil-1 is thinner than mineral oil. When I was using it, it would leak all over and the turbo would blow blue smoke. When I went to mineral oil, all that went away - and the oil changes were 1/5 the price!
Several qualified experts explained it as the car has to be designed for the oil. The tolerances in 930s were designed for mineral oil. If you run synthetic, it will just leak.
So if you drive a Boxster/996 that was designed for it and hardly ever change your oil, use synthetic. If you drive a 930, use 20-w50 mineral oil and change it more frequently...
