Interesting VIN find on my new to me 84 930
I picked up a Canadian 84 930. The VIN tag is a Canadian VIN and decodes correctly.
I was under the hood wiring in a working brake light switch last night (even replacement pressure switches require firewall pressure to fire up) and I noticed that the VIN tag on the cross beam by the smugglers box had a ZZZ vin, but the last part of the VIN was the same.
Is this typical? Did they just make all the cars ZZZ and then do what was needed to make them Canadian spec/VINed for export/import?
And since first post, etc. requires pictures:

Right, ROW = ZZZ in the vin.
From http://www.adelgigs.com/911vin_numbers.shtml
911 (930) VIN from To
911 Turbo 3.3 Coupé 93x ES 00 0001 93x ES 00 0804 (804 ROW produced)
911 Turbo 3.3 Coupé CDN 93x ES 05 0001 93x ES 05 0077 (77 total Canadian produced)
Mine is 050070, but the window VIN is not ZZZ but the vin plate (matching 050070) on the frame is ZZZ.
Just an oddity I guess.

I went through this with a 930 I bought last year. Contacted PCNA and received the following:
"It is common for vehicles produced by Porsche AG (Parent company of Porsche Cars North America) to have two VIN’s stamped into the body of the chassis. Porsche AG produces vehicles referred to as ‘Worldwide Chassis.’ These vehicles are produced typically before it has been decided what market the vehicle is intended. Worldwide Chassis are stamped with a VIN beginning with ‘WP0ZZZ’. If it is decided then that a car is to be shipped to the U.S. the VIN will be re-stamped on the firewall with the appropriate U.S. Market VIN, thus changing digits 4 – 6 and 9th of the VIN to reflect the model, engine type, restraint system and NHTSA code (all badges and door/dash plates will reflect the updated VIN as well). You will notice that the remaining digits pertaining to the model and serial number do not change, as they are unique to this vehicle and this vehicle only."
Great looking car!
