Hello , decided to join since I've decided to keep the car. It's a '79 930 that I've owned since 1993, 79K miles, all stock except for reactor replacement manifolds and smog pump delete. Metallic blue over tan. Very nice except for stone chips on the hood. I was considering selling it since I hardly drive it anymore but decided that after some of my stock market investments I'd do better to do the opposite of what I felt. I do all my own work, enjoy working on these cars probably more than driving them. I have a shop w/ machine tools, welders, press, etc, etc so can do pretty much anything. I'm in Fla now, will get a pic of it up when I get back home to Buffalo, well, on second thought that might have to wait til spring! I've always wanted to build a 935 style replica for the street so I think that will be my next project. I'll keep this 930 as it is since it's so nice and see if I can pick up a ratty one on the cheap for the project. EFI, twin turbo, dual plug, G50/50 etc i think will be the ticket. Fiberglas panels, but AC, comfortable interior. Of course the other option is to just buy one that meets the specs but then I miss out on all the fun of building it. Hope everyone has nice and safe New Year.

Default Here it is

Color is 304 Minerva Blue CC. I dropped the engine when I bought it, installed hydraulic tensioners, set the valves, rebuilt the turbo, and did a general clean up. I've replaced the rear wheel bearings, installed a Sanden AC compressor and a few other minor items. Once I finish the project I've been working on for three years I'm going to drop the engine again and take care of the timing box oil leaks, install a set of headers, K27, cams, CAC, maybe go thru the top end. The gearbox could use some attention and the AC either needs to be charged with ES-12 or a hose change and flush for R134A.

Very nice. It took you 17 years to decide to keep it? Good decision!

Do I detect a fellow Harley fool such as I? Noticed your bike in the background.

Unfortunately the 930 and bikes are stored away for the snowy winter. I can hardly wait for the spring thaw. Meanwhile, got some 930 projects I've been puting off. Time to dig in and get 'em done.

Yes, it's an '07 Road King I bought new. It now has 40,200 miles on it, needless to say, I ride it a lot more than the 930! Last August I did a 9700 mile marathon, around the Gaspe peninsula in Quebec then out west as far as Death Valley. Did an Iron Butt run the first day from Buffalo to my sis's place in KC. I can scratch that off, never doing it again! I guess the moderators might not like a Harley discussion going on here, but it is air cooled.

Second thoughts on a 935 replicar project. I think I like the RSR style better, looks more like a Porsche. Did some research on G50/50 boxes, kind of like unobtanium. So what'd I'd probably do if I go ahead with a turbo RSR project is put a 915 box in the 930 with probably 325-350 HP or so and use the 930 box in the RSR. If the 930 values ever go ballistic then I'd put the original box back into it. But that's all subject for another thread. My present project is a diesel truck, very low tech compared to turbo Porsches. Although Audi is doing OK with their diesel tech at LeMans! Mines a slightly modded 3.9L Cummins 4BTA, old tech all mechanical injection, no ECM's.

just so you know, the first 935 was a widened RSR so-to-speak, then they added in the Flachbau

As Borat would say, veddy nice! I like the color. Was Lumberg's factory turbo look in Office Space that same color?

Thanks for the pics. Was it the Kremer's who came up with the extended rear quarters that look weird to me? I prefer just the very wide flares as on the Martini car. That Flachbau doesn't look bad either. I was looking at the one that GTracing has, don't care for the fences on top of the fenders.

no one offers the proper bodywork pictured above and you'll have to highly modify some of the RSR panels offered, however, I happen to have the custom made rear quarters and flachbau one peice front end that are on the martini car. and the molds should be done this summer if you care for some nice carbon pieces.

I think I saw a G50 lurking on eBay just the other day. $8K, ouch.

Harley discussions are fair game to a point, as several of us 930 folks own them. Iron Butt....I can relate. Try the distance on a Fatboy or Heritage and you'll gain new meaning of the misnomer "softail".

Pete77930,

So are you setting up production for exact copies of the Martini bodywork in carbon to sell? The more I look at it the more I like it. If I do decide to go ahead with this street racer project I may be interested.

Steve
