I'm not a Corvette man but that was a pretty biased piece of reporting. When he screwed up on the Pcar he did it over again and said I know it will do better. But when he screwed up on the vette he said he couldn't do any better. He couldn't shift very well and even when a car has a peculiarity, like most of ours do, any good driver works with it instead of cursing and screaming about it. The comments he made about the vette were condesending and insulting. All that crap about the horse power and the "Buttons". Like I said I'm not a Corvette fan but at less than half price, I don't think I would be quite so insulting towards it. Gee. It's like watching the evening news!

IMO he revved the nuts off the GT2 at the starts and then didn't given the Vette enough at all. I think both cars could've been quicker. The GT2 sounded like 'axle tramp'.
What a crap review, I'd do a much better job!

The GT2 was clearly faster, no matter how you slice it. They let the better driver of the two get a head start off the line in the Vette, and the GT2 still walked by it.
When they put that speed in a more lightweight Cayman chassis, I will be very happy indeed. I'm not holding my breath, however.

I too was surprized by the ungodly noise from the GT2. Also anyone who has ever raced test cars against each other knows that at the end of the first run you swap drivers to the other car. Also why the disparaging remark about leaf springs. The ones used on this Z06 are not your Grandfather's leaf springs.

I have to admit that when I first heard that the Vettes use leaf springs I was flabbergasted. I guess you guys in the states have known this for years, but for me being in the UK it was a total shock.
Why do they continue to use them?

Porsches flagship, the RS Spyder uses torsion bars which could be considered antiquated but for the fact that they obviously work quite well.
GM has packaging and cost constraints for the Corvette- the leaf springs fit inside those parameters while satisfying their performance requirements.

If Chevy spent another $5000 and gave the Vette an interior out of the BMW, the car would be almost too good to pass negative judgment at such a low price point. The Vette was a turd until the C5, but they are really getting it right now. There was a Z06 at Mid Ohio for the Indy200 over the weekend with a Corsa exhaust. Sounded as good as it probably runs.
Still Id opt for the Nissan GT-R and have my fun in the winter too while enjoying a back seat.
