'89 must have been a good year for 930's and sports stars. My '89 coupe was owned by Orel Hershiser. Maybe I should send it to BJ next year. LOL BTW it's NOT for sale, I enjoy driving it too much!

It must be the difference between the US and Canadian markets. My buddy sold his '89 930 Cabriolet (tripple black) with K29 turbo's, headers and twin ignition for $67,000.00 CAD last year.

Folks like to rave about and/or ask premiums for cars that were owned by Celeberties. In most cases they were poorly maintained, often wrecked, bumped, bruised, or curbed.. they're celeb owners usually could care less about the hunk of metal because they had so many more, or because it was just the "in thing" to have at the time.

BJ made $10,000 on that car for displaying it on stage for 3 minutes. If you want to know who the joke is on, its on the buyer and seller.

Why on earth anyone would buy a car at a place like this is beyond me unless all 5,000 people under the big top are so stupid that some car is undervalued by 30% which is rare.

You could have gone to Wayne himself and probably bought the car for $47,500 no questions asked. Woulda saved him money, woulda saved you money.

BJ is for folks who want to be complimented on having stupid money. And thats about where it ends.

BJ isn't the only place that rediculous prices are posted for cars.....sometime back I saw a Las Vegas dealer who was selling (more accurately...trying to sell) Andre Agassi's 89 930 slant cab for somewhere around $90K. I guess some folks think that a celeb's a$$ ads a whole bunch of value to the car. Idiotic prices aren't necessarily relegated to the BJ tent.

I certainly DID NOT pay a premium for my "Celeb Car". In fact I bought it because I negotiated a great deal on it with or without the celeb factor.

Wayne Gretzky has not owned this car for more than 5 years.......it was owned by a non-porsche file in the state of Washington. Furthermore, I know this individual........and would not buy a car from him.

I am not that current on the 930 market but when I watched this car go across the block it looked like a deal to me and I may have been bidding if I were there. What I am unclear on is how much RUF parts it had. You could see the wheels but I thought the annoucers talked about some RUF components in the engine? Anyone now more about this car and how modified it was?

The intercooler looked stock. The exhaust had a second set of pipes probably for balance(from a rear view standpoint). I think it had a MOMO steering wheel. Looked pretty stock to me. They trotted it out to an audience of just about nobody--empty seats ruled at that point. The announcers were very complimentary about 930s though and that was positive, but it was like trying to pitch a symphony at a circus.
I have been to the Palm Beach auction a few times and the deals in the beginning can be amazing but on Fri. night and Sat. it ends up to be a bunch of guys without much knowledge throwing money at the stage and trying to impress each other and their girlfriends. great if you love low mileage Z28s(69)
