Question Air intake?

I'm thinking of installing a "direct/open etc." air kit instead of the OEM air filter box with K&N filter that I use now. Maybe the Fabspeed/BMC kit.
I would like some advice about this - are there any real advantages in terms of increased power / throttle response or is it "unnecessary" on my not so heavyly modyfied car (3.3 ltr, K27, SC cams, K&N filter, boost 0.9-1.0 bar, stock intercooler and OEM muffler (will install a Zork tube though), car weighs 1035 kilograms???
Could there be any negative consequenses - A/F ratio etc...?

:-)

I didn't notice any power gain from doing the bmc style one, might be a little louder. I did it to have more space in the engine compartment.

I used a stock air box, drilled with 6 x 1inch holes in the bottom, using a KN filter. With it, the engine produced 414 rwhp. I then bought a power flow and dyno'd it on the same dyno, and it dropped to 396 rwhp. Let's say the figures are dead even - no change. This showed me there is no real benefit to putting an aftermarket air box on your car - unless you like how it cleans up the engine compartment. I think the money can be better spent elsewhere - like suspension or a real performance muffler.

I fitted one but at the same time as headers. It sounds and goes great, but don't know how much is down to the air intake.

The engine stays cool, but haven't driven it in summer yet.

I did the carb filter mod as well. It was a mr gasket kit. cost me about 15 bucks. No performance gains, but being able to get to the engine without removing the intercooler, and air box = priceless...
