Front hood strut
I replaced the passengers side hood strut in about 10 minutes but the driver's side is something else. Has anyone found a way to change it without removing components in the area? I can tell that the pass' side is not original but the drivers side is. That tells me that the previous owners also did not change it.

Changing the drivers side without removal of the components around the clip make it VERY difficult to reach down and align the cotter pin. What you really need are 7 inch fingers on the hand of a small child. Since i couldn't source that out, I finally invested in a very long-nosed pair of pliars to do the job. They come in handy for other jobs as well.

You described the needed hand perfectly! You know its funny because the ones in the rear of my car have screw out ends on the non-shock end. If the front ones had this it would be so easy to swap them. Who knows, maybe someone makes one for the front. I'll look for some real long nose pliers and look for an alien, like ET, meanwhile!

My 19 year old son is in college now. So I inherited the 20x20 studio we built him 4 years ago. I hauled out 4 32 gallon trash cans of junk he had accumulated over the years. I had collected all the loose mic stands that were trashed. One of them was the top part of an extendable boom that makes a perfect hood prop. It looks high tech, and was headed for the trash. Now I can get rid of my wood broom handle.

No good advice, but I feel your pain.
I went through this a few years ago. I worked for hours to get that bottom pin back in to no avail. There just wasn't room with my big ol hands.
Now I use a cutoff broom handle.

I took the windshield washer bottle out and looked into the hole and then put the windshield bottle back in. That sucker will be there when I sell this car!
