ah yes...the major!! i laugh as they always start out as belts and pulley's etc...then...clutch, steel braided oil lines, injectors, plugwires, dist cap (btw...$500 approx for a distrib cap!!), h2o pump...the list goes on and on!

the next thing you know...you are @$15-20k !!! ouch!!!!

at any rate, like my 930, the boxer is a car that would be hard to replace as in ...what would i get to replace it? each drive in it is an occasion and leaves me weak in the knees. and btw, the 308 is a fantastic car and the 4 valves are actually great runners when kept in the rev range. and there is not a prettier production car than the 308 w/ the only exception being the lambo miura and the 246 gts dino.

but...the boxer is my money pit!!

Ferrari pete, that is one beautiful car!!! I only have rode once in a 308... walked away unimpressed.. hated the ride quality and the view from inside... I felt like there were tons of blind spots.. It was a nice car.. just not what I was expecting I guess.... Still.. it is a Ferrari, and still a work of art...

I really did have no idea what number of Ferrari that was, sorry.

I do agree with you that the Miura is a great looking car.

I am at the Cavallino in Palm Beach every year, and every year the BB's just make all the other Ferraris seem so, well, un-bbish. Your cars is awesome, never ever sell it and I wish you many many miles of smiles

thank you for your nice comments 500. my love of the boxer began when i saw my first in the flesh back in 1977 in greenwich, ct. it was the car that left the mark on me to the extent that i said that some day i would own one!

well the day came about 6 yrs ago and there was never a question as to my desire to own the car and to keep as a cornerstone ferrari in my gaarage as i accumulate a few more (with some luck!)

the boxer is the last of the true hand made machines and really one of the last zero compromise ferraris. not made to be comfy, not made to be a daily driver, function followed form...it was simply a thinly disquised race car and engages the driver fully!!!

they have started to get some recognition in the last two years and are now being looked at by some to be the next collector ferrari as the prices are rising north of $150k and moving to the next milestone of $200k. 500, you and i would probably have done well to buy all of the good boxers we could have afforded 5 yrs back as we would be looking good ...and smart in todays market!

no worries, the car should never be for sale as there is nothing to replace it with and as you say, the current line up is way to sterile and w/o the sould of the late great boxer!!

i really do consider the 930 turbo as the porsche equivilent to the boxer!!!

now if i can scrape up the money for a 246 gts, daytona and a miura...i will be all set...

...for now!
