When I talked to several companies about the C2 rear bumper they all said, "Do not buy a three piece". They said that they were much heavier and more complicated to mount as Rocket mentioned above. Lets face it, if anyone rear ends you your rear end is toast so its best to go with a well made light one piece bumper.

My rear euro bumper is a 3 piece & it has 3 nuts and bolts each side (6 total) to clamp the middle section to the outers. It is OK but I think Rudy is right, one piece would be better & definitely lighter

I just cannot get over how Porsche people continue to support crappy businesses.

I am puzzled as to how you would know what businesses I talked to and whether or not they are crappy.

Customer fraud is the cost of doing business. What makes Better Bodies think they are unique in the fact that they suffer from a few deadbeats and all the other shops and parts suppliers dont? I bet Paragon and Pelican do 20x the business they do and suffer 20x the headaches from outstanding payment still uncollected from bad credit cards.

Plain and simple: if the business distrusts my willingness to pay honestly and on time, I distrust them to complete my order and send a perfect product on time. I dont do business with companies like that.

Same reason I dont buy my gas at places where they make you pay first if you wish to pay with cash. If you want to treat me like a criminal, I'll do my business elsewhere.

There is no way that this is a question of trust. This is all about them not wanting to be held accountable to honest business practices, something that Visa requires.
The fact that these guys aren't members of the BBB pretty much says it all.

I can't imagine doing business with any shop that did not take plastic or paypal. All they have to do is raise their prices 2% to cover the cost and everyone is happy.

When it comes to fiberglass there are so many factors involved to the part fitting. First off the level of expectation is always an individual thing. What I think is perfect is often continued extreme and unreasonable. What others think is good I consider crap. In the body world I have bought parts from all of them and not one was actually what I would consider great. Some more than others but over all they are reusing the molds too many times, too few layers of fiber and so on. The CF pieces are the worst in most cases. This also includes BIG companies like TA. I have a bumper we are still fighting on a Cayman. I wouldn't out it on my sons 914!

Anytime I can I will use Factory style pieces. In most cases like the bumper you can make/modify the brackets and make the OEM part work. Just like we use to take the Pre-74 cars cut the clip off and make it short style hood car.

Anytime I see a glass peiece I am reserved and simply know it will suck and needs work.

This is sound advice buts lets not forget how much settling a 20 year old car will do. Trust me, EVERYTHING will be out of factory fabrication tolerances. And every car will differ from every other car. Fiberglass is harder to work with because it won't give like other materials......not very elastic.

I hate to be a party pooper but my DP front valance fit like a glove and only needed some minor gel coat work before painting. I don't know if DP is still in business but they appear to make good pieces.

I was using your quote to support the idea that buying a 3 piece rear bumper is not the simple way to go. In other words, I agree with you.

The crappy company is Better Bodies. The implication was that Better Bodies would sell the most complex and least useful bumper, and yet people still support them financially when they have a shoddy reputation to begin with.

And yeah, my DP valance also fits perfectly. It is the only valance I have ever seen that follows the fender curve perfectly.
