I made an offer on the car pending inspection, which is scheduled for Wed or Thurs. The title is clear and the car was sold new from a local dealer. All papers and records seem to be in order. Hopefully it will be in my garage by early next week

Did the 79 euros have the lights in the front fenders? I wonder if they were swapped out, as was the front valance as mentioned if wrecked? Also, it wouldn't have been sold new at a local dealer if it was a euro car. What are the first 5-6 letters of the VIN? That will tell us if it's euro car.
BTW. Euro cars can be a good deal. I'd say 99% of the parts are the same as US cars and they can have better fuel systems and more HP.

I was wondering about the front fender markers too. It must be a repaint. I would carefully check the body for crash damage. Is that the right seat pattern ( no pattern ) for a 79? I thought all Turbos had sunroofs standard.

It's a euro vin. Dunno about the side markers, I have seen other 79 euro's without them. I am fairly certain it is original paint but the inspection (tomorrow or next day) will confirm I am sure..

If it's Euro, then the speedo would be in kilometers ... and probably was changed... when federalized.

Thats correct, however that speedometer(dual scale) came out in the U.S. 1983. He listed the mileage as 54K. That is what the "new/changed" speedometer says.

Ah, dont believe all that BS about Euro cars. If the car is clean, passes a PPI....Base your decison on facts. People with US cars can easily dupe you with mileage as well. Ever hear of owning two speedo's? Visual and mechanical inspection is your best bet. Just make sure it doesnt have title issues and you are good to go!

Herb Tarlik would be proud to drive that lime green car. Too bad it didn't have the German plaid interior. I love that color on Porsche's and Shelby's

I had the inspection done Friday, they called me back Saturday and said it looked good. I am waiting to get the official report in the mail today though. I did put a $500 deposit on the car though(pending a clean inspection) since the owner had two offers since I first looked at it. Everything seems good to go though, I should have it by the end of the week I think
