1/4 Mile Times....
Hey guys & gals,
I am thinking about going to the local drag strip in the next couple of weeks with a couple of friends & their heavily modded Mustangs & crotch rockets. On Friday nights, they have a "test & tune" and for a small fee, you can put your car on the track and see what it will do.
Anyhow, I was thinking about taking the 930 out for fun. I have no intention of beating up on my car, but I think it would be fun to get a pass or two and see what happens.
So here is the question: what kind of times should I expect? I have the basic mods including the 1bar boost spring, K27, intercooler, intake, exhaust, etc. Has anyone here run their car down the 1/4 for fun? If so, what were your times???
Back in the 90s when my Vette (C4 LT1) was stock, she would turn 13.0 - 13.2 @ 103 - 106mph all night long. I am wondering how my modded 930 will fare? I am guessing somewhere in the high 12s at 110mph. What do you think?
This is gonna be fun... Oh, and suggestions are welcome!!!

If you can side step the clutch/throttle and hit a under 2 60 foot you will be looking at the high 11s low 12s. It was not uncommon for me to click off an 11.8 on my old car.

Not really. It is a fine line between slipping the clutch and dumping it. You hammer it but sustain a point where boost is created and then let the car go. You are heel toeing it! Hard to explain.

Slip clutch and hold on handbreak. Wont give you dump clutch times but quite easy to get reasonable results. Obviously you're trading your clucth for hardware...

To do this to a 930 is foolish and expensive. The 930 was never built to do this sort of thing. But do ahead, I take it you're young and foolish...

These older Porsches are tough. They ain't gonna break after a few fast starts and hard acceleration!! And its fun...
