I think it's a repaint. If you look at the photo with the VIN/Fed plate on the jam, you'll see orange peel. And that's one thing you never saw on any 911 leaving the factory. I'd be very leery of buying any car from a body shop.
The front/rear calipers are the standard 930 calipers, just pimped red for your viewing pleasure. Just like the cooling fan and "andial" lettering on the IC. Very color coordinated.
Ruf speedo? Something about that center console......is that the one that is offered as a 930S console from some company that advertises in Excellence mag?
Still, it can't be ruled out that the car may be a Special Wishes car under the skin, just unlikely.

The paint looks like it has a haze which is a little weird for a body shop guy. Maybe it`s only dirty. The 3.6 is a little strange and I guess the RUF boost gauge is OK. You have to wonder with the mileage too. Buyer Beware!!!

I agree, I love the color. also if you dont know what a 930 is and have to say turbo, the folks you are talking to probably do not know what a turbo charger is anyways

This slant was on ebay a couple of years ago when I was in the market for my car (2002) and I don't recall the mileage but I know it wasn't in the teens or lower so either a) this is a "new odometer" that doesn't reflect the real mileage or b) this car has not been driven too much over the last couple of years, which the seller hits at in the ad but for me, either way, I'd look very closely at this car before pulling the trigger. Caveat emptor indeed!

Look even closer and you will see the car manufacturer's name is mispelled.

So I wonder if this misspelling was/is the fault of the individuals that handled the federalization process for this car?

come on guys, besides the paint looking like primer with clear over it, which looks like crap imo, look at the ID sticker. It's over another sticker and there is holes like it should be rivited. The top right corner looks like it was bent from lifting it off the car at some point. Something doesn't seem right that's for sure. I'd like to see a cert of authenticity. it's ugly....

Guy's smart enough not to publish pics with the lights up. I bet they're square, not round.

the vin sticker thing, my carrera was federalised it's the same way with the vin number in mine is an engraved metal plate with what looks like double sided tape holding it to the dashboard. the sticker was made and applied by whoever imported it. not by porsche. so when looking at a grey market car that sort of stuff is common. you have to look in the trunk under the carpet to really verify the number. as for the year they were making them in the special wishes progrom starting I think in about 1979. in fact the black plug for the rocker panel jack hole that every one points to as a car being a fake if it doesnt have it. actually were not used in many of the earlier cars. this car has it by the way but i see a lot of the time people calling the car a fake because that plug isnt there.

His response to a question at the bottom explains a few things
" Q: Hi! I would like to know a bit of history on your ownership of the car, it seems to be an european model, would like to know more about engine work or upgrades as well as if this is the original paint etc.... Thanks. Julian.
Dec-07-06

A: I am the third owner, having purchased the vehicle in April 2004. It is my personal car and one I dearly love, but I have too many cars and most just sit around. In the 2.5 years I have owned it I only put about 2,000 miles on it. Engine upgrades were done by the original owner who imported the car. They include cams, Andial intercooler, upgraded headers. As for the paint, I have not seen any paint lines indicating it was repainted, but I can't say with any certainty that it wasn't. I have what I believe to be all receipts on the car from the previous owners and none of the receipts show any body work or paint. Hope this helps. Good luck bidding.

Dozer, My DP is a 1979 and I have it apart under long restoration right now. When I bought it I did some research with a long time Porsche collector/dealer and found out that it was one of the first made at DP from a brand new shell from Porsche. We had found a older article on DP in a german Auto Sport Magazine from 1979 that relayed this was the first year they were made. My friend at the time had one of Rod Stewards black 935 DP's and it was a 1977 and was built sometime after 1979.

When I get the stuff in the garage moved around some I will get some pictures. Thanks.
